Favored Anthro Links

Briefly, another great post from Maximilian Forte over at Open Anthropology, regarding the ongoing debacle that is Monty McFate’s life, a debacle which now appears intergenerational, and whose intergenerationality appears to have been the subject of a fairly important fiction (specifically, regarding Monty’s supposed hippie parents). The post starts with a great quote from the excellent, heroic, and occasionally grave-robbing (yeah, he was “complex”) Franz Boas.

Then there is Lorenz’ phat post on the anthropology of global metal (the music) by Sam Dunn, including a brief video embed. I remember watching the Thai metal groups on the television while waiting for my second child to be born – and wishing that Cambodia had anything similar. Thai metal rocks. And I don’t even really like metal!

Both are worth a few minutes of your time, at least.
