All conditioned phenomena are impermanent.
And therefore, friends, all things come to an end. This blog has been a useful place for me to forward stories I found important, occasionally comment on them, or work out ideas – mostly relating to my dissertation – that were in incipient form.
But my dissertation is finished now, and my diploma is in hand. I find myself saving countless stories to forward, but doing nothing with them. I’m writing, perhaps more than ever, but not here.
There are excellent resources – some old, some new – covering many aspects of Cambodia, of Buddhism, and of the peculiar trends and themes I find most compelling. My own fascinations are not likely to continue to be of widespread interest without continuing to reduplicate the higher quality efforts of others.
Therefore, I will no longer blog here. It’s been virtual, folks. See you around the internets.

Your blog, your call. With a title like yours, there’s a certain appropriateness.
It would be great if you keep this up as an archive / memorial. And it would be great to have your papers listed as you publish.
I know you can’t exactly stay away from the interweb – if you feel a need to blog at a later time, I’d suggest a new brand name just to clarify.
Thanks, Jinja! If I do return to the ‘nets, it will likely not be a solo venture, and of course, I do already have an idea or three kicking around on that front. I’ll leave this thing up for a year or so – lawyerly types get their panties in bundles otherwise!
Many warm congratulations on finishing your Ph.D.! But this latest news about the blog is an outrage. ; )
Best wishes,
DCF
Congrats on the dissertation, and I’m glad to hear the blog will stay up for a while. Here’s hoping it can spin into something else – have you thought about dinner theater?
I find you. I come to depend on you. I lose you. Isn’t it always the way. Ah the sufferings of conditioned existence.
A lot of good people have said a lot of good things about your work. Don’t stay away too long, and please don’t take this down too soon. I look forward to more, but somewhere else of course.
Congratulations on your Ph.D.
Judith
Congratulations also. You got through it!
I had noticed that I was hardly seeing any new posts from you anymore, I actually thought you might become more active here again once your PhD was finished. Instead it turns out to be the opposite.
I can certainly appreciate the decision, I find that blogging is increasingly wearing me down too, and am not as excited about it as I first was, when it was intended to be a self-serving scrapbook and nothing more.
I also withdrew from Facebook, to better deal with the problem of being over extended…so I am not too sure around which Internets I will see you.
Very best wishes and many thanks for all your writing!
Max.
What heartening comments: thanks to all of you. I will undoubtedly return to the internets at some point in the relatively near future, once I’ve had a chance to consider what kind of interaction will best serve my own selfish purposes! As with Max, I found that blogging came to be an obligation (a fun one, but nonetheless) as I gained readership. I would like to find a way (perhaps just another blog with more discipline on my part) to do something similar without it turning into a similar situation. In the meantime, I just updated my publications page.
Thanks again. See you in this life or the next.
